About Kinkee Car Directory
Every registered vehicle maintenance workshop in Hong Kong, in one searchable place.
What this is
A searchable directory of the 1,550 vehicle maintenance workshops on the Hong Kong Transport Department's public register, covering all 18 districts. You can filter by district, workshop class, vehicle type and service, or sort by distance from where you are.
Every record shows the registration number, address in both English and Chinese, phone number, opening hours where the government publishes them, the vehicle types the workshop takes and the services it has declared.
Where the data comes from
Entirely from the Transport Department's "Registered Vehicle Maintenance Workshops" open data release. Nothing here is user-submitted, and no workshop pays to appear or to rank higher. The dataset is re-downloaded and rebuilt regularly; this build was synced on 2026-09-04, and every workshop page carries that date so you can judge how current a record is.
Ordering is by how much a workshop has declared it does, then by class and name. Workshops whose registration has lapsed are ranked last regardless.
What registration does and does not mean
Registration in Hong Kong is voluntary. A workshop registers with the Transport Department, declares its size, equipment, vehicle types and services, and undertakes to follow the Code of Practice for vehicle maintenance workshops. An unregistered workshop is not operating illegally — it is simply not on this list.
Registration is therefore a floor, not a rating. It says a workshop met a common standard and declared a scope of work; it says nothing about the quality of any particular job.
The register also contains records whose registration date has already passed — 79 of them in this build. They may be mid-renewal or may have lapsed. Rather than present those as current, this site marks them "Registration expired" and ranks them last. Call to confirm before booking one.
Limits worth knowing
- The Transport Department publishes opening hours for only about a fifth of workshops. "No hours published" means the data is missing, not that the workshop is closed.
- A declared service means the workshop is equipped for that work. It does not guarantee parts or staff are free on the day, so call ahead for anything specialised.
- Articles are currently published in Chinese only. The directory itself is fully available in both languages.
