When a vehicle reaches the end of its life the registered owner must cancel the registration with the Transport Department and pass the vehicle to a qualified recycler, or remain liable for licensing and parking.
Have the vehicle registration documents and proof of identity ready, and clear any outstanding finance or charge over the vehicle first. Before handing it over, remove personal belongings, the Autotoll unit and any dash camera, and cancel the associated accounts.
Submit a cancellation of vehicle registration to the Transport Department with the registration documents and the recycler's disposal certificate. Licensing liability ends only once that is processed.
