    About towing

When a vehicle stops on the road, getting it recovered quickly matters for safety and traffic. Inside a tunnel or on an expressway, make yourself safe first and contact the police or the tunnel control room.

Before calling, have the exact location ready — road name, direction, nearest lamp post number or distance marker — plus the vehicle model and the fault. Four-wheel-drive, electric and low-clearance vehicles need a flatbed; a wheel-lift tow can damage the drivetrain.

    Towing: common questions

What should I do first after breaking down?

Switch on the hazard lights, move to the hard shoulder or a safe spot if you can, place a warning triangle at a suitable distance behind, get passengers out beyond the barrier, then call for recovery or the police.

Can an electric car be towed normally?

Electric cars should be moved on a flatbed. With a wheel-lift tow the driven wheels turn the motor, which can damage the inverter and battery management system.
